Waiting for Strange Fate

So, I was browsing Borders.com, looking to order Strange Fate, the final book in L.J. Smith's Night World series because I remembered that it was supposed to come out this April. But, much to my chagrin, I discovered that it looks like the release date was pushed back--to May 2011! Bummer!

I started reading the Night World books two years ago, when the first three novels were re-released into one big volume. You can read my review here. What I like about these books in a nutshell: they are all their own stories, but they're interconnected and related, and they are also very diverse. Whether you are a fan of vampires, werewolves, guardian angels, ghosts, witches, soul mates finding each other through reincarnation--whatever--the Night World series has got you covered. (Read my review of Volume 2 here, and Volume 3 here.)

I'm eager to see how L.J. Smith ends it all with Strange Fate, and it shall be hard to wait--but well worth it, I'm sure. If you're an impatient fan like me though, check out this neat trailer for the series!

I just want to say this. Do not get your hopes up. I have been waiting for since the books have come out originally in the late 1990's. Excuses keep coming up and as much as I love L.J. Smith. I do not trust her to write strange fate because she has put her other projects first.

I wanted to read this book forever but after how much I hated the first of the new Vampire Diaries books, I don't think I will ever read anything by her again. I do not like her new writing style at all. So even if this book someday comes out, I doubt I will read it, but I will probably read spoilers online to find out how it ended.

I have had this on pre-order since jumping about with excitement that the series was going to be concluded. The problem is that the release date keeps changing, 1st this year, then Jan 2011 and now May 2011 :( What is the problem?

NO! They pushed the date back again?! Cynthia has a fair point - it sure doesn't look like Strange Fate's a top priority, even though they re-released all the other books recently.

Personally, L.J. got old for me. I was obsessive over her books for a while - but she's very patterned in her old stuff, and her new stuff sounds like it just isn't cutting it.

Oh, and I have a blog award waiting for you at my blog! *Claps* Here's the linky.

This is really too bad. I just picked up these books a couple weeks ago, read through them all, and started looking for the next one. Finding out that they keep pushing back the release date is a huge let down. I've already lost interest in it just knowing I'll have to wait another year. By the time it does come out, I'll have forgotten about it completely. I can't imagine if I was a fan from when the series first came out, I would have given up on it long ago.

Really? MAY!? This is so annoying. The only thing that could make this worse is if they decided to suddenly make it a hardback(I hate when I have half the series paperback and the rest hardback, it just looks sloppy.)

Alyssa, I have the first edition small paperback edition and the new edition of the night world series so if it is in hardback it will not match either of my two sets.

I would hate to break it to all, but I have had this book on pre-order for well over a year now (Hardback copy, as there is no paperback listed) and they have now changed the date once again to 1 Jul 2012. This is getting ridiculous. I love her books, but she is now going to start writing a further series for the Vampire Diaries (which the last series was pretty crappy compared to first), obviously cos this series was made into a tv show and is more profitable for her.
I'm starting to think we will never see the end of Night World series.

First off, you all can read some other books while waiting for the final book to come out, or get yourself reacquainted with the characters and re-read the first 9 books. It's been a long wait but L.J. Smith has quite a few series to work on and Vampire Diaries' popularity calls for her attention constantly. By the way, new release date says April 2011.
