Cover Talk: The Forever Cover

Maggie Stiefvater's covers for her Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy are almost as tantalizingly romantic and beautiful as the prose itself. The cover for Shiver took my breath away. When I saw the Linger cover, I was delighted that Scholastic could come up with something that can easily stand beside Shiver. We all waited eagerly and impatiently for the Forever cover, debating the cover, who would be on it, what color it would be, and how that little red splotch would be incorporated.

And now we can see it all in its glorious beauty!

I will admit, I looked forward to the release of the cover almost at much as for the book itself! The red, for me anyway, was a little unexpected (I always favored the rumor of a deep purple color scheme), but I think very fitting considering the recent developments in Linger. I like that we get (what I'm assuming is) human Sam on the cover!

And, my huge fear (I'm not kidding) was that they'd leave out that signature red splotch that was so striking on Shiver. They haven't! Yay!

What do you all think?

I wanted purple, too. That's why I made my own purple one. See here: http://www.squeakybooks.com/2010/09/purple-forever.html

I was shocked that it was red not purple too
but at the same time having a nice dark red font would be better then purple anyway

but yeah I love the cover though the color is questionable then again it will probbly be a nice dull red like linger was a dull green

I don't like it as much as Shiver and Linger but it's still very cool.

It's funny kit mentioned the dullness of the colors- on the ARCs, the colors are bright and not dull at all. I like Linger's ARC cover the best.

As for the splotch, that never bothered me. I assumed right away they'd use the splotch as the o in Forever and I was kinda right.

I can't wait for this book. When will ARCs be out? lol.

So excited for this novel and I love the new cover.

It kind of makes sense to me - the use of red for the cover. The first two always had those little drops of red on them so having it spread and come full circle is interesting.
