It started off with a VIP party on the roof of the building, where Libba Bray, Meg Cabot, and Maggie Stiefvater mingled with us bloggers and some of the lovely Scholastic staff. I met some people who work behind the scenes at figment.com, and loads of bloggers I usually only recognize by their Twitter handles.
Then, the party moved downstairs to the awesome, awesome Scholastic store for the public book signing. Maggie, Libba, and Meg have such excellent chemistry together, and listening to them speak was really fun, plus totally hilarious. The room was PACKED, so unfortunately I missed some of what was being said, but it was still fun!
One of my favorite parts of the night were the huge posters of each author's book displayed throughout the store, with cut-offs where the character's head should go. Naturally, Stacey (from Page Turner's Blog) and Lynsey (from Narratively Speaking, who also had a nice English accent and whose birthday happens to be tomorrow, so you should go tell her happy birthday!) and I had to get pictures with every head. Naturally.
Maggie's table was the first one we hit, and she was signing copies of her books (including many ARCs of Forever and some of The Scorpio Races that somehow managed to find their way in) in the Magic School Bus. The Magic School Bus. That's how awesome the Scholastic store is. Amazing writers sign books in the Magic School Bus.

Then, we wound around to Meg Cabot's line! I was so, so excited for this event because I'd get to see Meg Cabot in person--which has basically been a little dream of mine since I was 11 years old and first picked up All American Girl. She signed my copy of Abandon, posed for a picture, and after I introduced myself, told me that she had heard of my blog! I could have died and gone to heaven in that moment!
Not really sure why I was bending over so... |
Lynsey, me, and Stacey with Meg! |
And of course, we got pictures of ourselves as Pierce, the heroine on Meg's latest book, Abandon. This turned out to be a bit trickier that we anticipated, though...

And me...not exactly at the right angle! |
Finally, we jumped into the Libba Bray line, and were the very last people in it! It was a long one, but we entertained ourselves quite a bit! Stacey and Lynsey did a dramatic reading of a potty training book when the line went through the picture book section. We talked about books, books, and more books. We sat down, got up, and sat down again. Finally, we approached the giant orange dinosaur that Libba was signing under!

And of course, the obligatory cover shot...
The only time you'll see me in a bikini. |
Sparkle ponies for the win!
It was such a blast, and we had fun shutting down the store! Thanks to Scholastic for the marvelous party, food and drinks (I loved this This Is Teen-i!) and the great fun! You all rock, and that was the highlight of my trip.

Fun! And those pictures are hilarious!
That party was so awesome! I'm sorry I missed the reading. Although, Susan and I did a re-enactment of BEA with toy dinosaurs. That was fun.
