Looking Ahead: Emma Carlson Berne and Still Waters

Looking Ahead is a feature in which new upcoming books and their authors are featured! Take a minute to read the interview, get to know them, read about their book(s), and find them on the internet!

Today's guest author is Emma Carlson Berne, with her new thriller, Still Waters!

TCR: Can you describe your book in ten words or less?

ECB: A dark thriller about secrets at an isolated lake house.

TCR: What has surprised you the most about the publication process so far?

ECB: I always thought I'd be so confident about my writing career once my first thriller was accepted for publication. But I'm still as anxiety-ridden as always. I've even had a second thriller accepted too (CLOSER will be out in Fall 2012) and still, I worry that I'll never publish anything again.

TCR: How did you react when you first saw your book cover?

ECB: My first thought was that the girl on the front reminded me of Ophelia. I love the balance of romance and darkness the cover conveys, since that's a big part of the book. And I love the way you can't tell if the girl is just floating with her eyes closed or if she's. . .dead.

TCR: Where can we stay up to date on you and your book?

ECB: I have a new web site, emmacarlsonberne.com, where I'll post book news and random bloggy things, and I'm also on Twitter (@emmabernay) and on Facebook. Send me a friend request!

Still Waters is going to available on December 20th, 2011! Read on below for more about the book!
"Hannah can't wait to sneak off for a romantic weekend with her boyfriend, Colin. He’s leaving for college soon, and Hannah wants their trip to the lake house to be one they’ll never forget.
But once Hannah and Colin get there, things start to seem a bit...off. They can't find the town on any map. The house they are staying in looks as if someone's been living there, even though it's been deserted for years. And Colin doesn’t seem quite himself. As he grows more unstable, Hannah worries about Colin’s dark side, and her own safety.
Nothing is as perfect as it seems, and what lies beneath may haunt her forever."
What do you all think? Doesn't this one sound fantastic?

Ooh, I love a good thriller. And the cover is so creepy, yet lovely at the same time. Definitely an author I'll keep my eye on!
