Looking Ahead: A.C. Gaughen and Scarlet!

Looking Ahead is a feature in which new upcoming books and their authors are featured! Take a minute to read the interview, get to know them, read about their book(s), and find them on the internet!

Up today is A.C. Gaughen with her book Scarlet!

Can you describe your book in ten words or less?

Robin Hood reimagined with a butt-kicking girl protagonist!

What has surprised you the most about the publishing process?

The collaboration, without a doubt. Writing before publication is such a long, solitary road that is just you and the page, and it's so cool to be able to work with other people who care as much about my work as I do. My agent and editors have been so incredible throughout this whole process.

What was your reaction when you first saw your cover?

I died! I got to see a very rough version originally, and my blood raced and I probably turned beet red--it was all I could do not to tackle hug my editor. I thought it looked so cool. Then later when the typeface was put on and all the final details perfected--what can I say, I love it!

Where can we stay up to date on you and your book?

The easiest place to keep track of me and Scarlet is to go to http://www.acgaughen.com/.

Thanks so much, A.C.! The cover for Scarlet is AWESOME! If you haven't read about it yet, here's what it's all about:

"Posing as one of Robin Hood’s thieves to avoid the wrath of the evil Thief Taker Lord Gisbourne, Scarlet has kept her identity secret from all of Nottinghamshire. Only the Hood and his band know the truth: the agile thief posing as a whip of a boy is actually a fearless young woman with a secret past. Helping the people of Nottingham outwit the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham could cost Scarlet her life as Gisbourne closes in. It’s only her fierce loyalty to Robin—whose quick smiles and sharp temper have the rare power to unsettle her—that keeps Scarlet going and makes this fight worth dying for."
Look for this one in stores February 14th, 2012!

I am so very excited about this book! Since I was a kid I've always loved the story of Robin Hood. I like the sound of this unique twist on the legend.

This book sounds just terrific, I love Robin Hood and I've always been intrigued by Will Scarlet, so I'm really excited to read this new take on that character.

Love this post
