In my 2012 review, I wrote this about the cover:
"I like the simplicity of the cover, with the dark city skyline in the background, and the keyhole shape with the eye in the center. It speaks to the ritualistic undertones of the book and is eye-catching without resorting to a bunch of pretty dresses or party scenes, which I think would potentially turn readers off of the book."Well, the paperback is coming out next month, and the cover is getting a face lift. Here it is:
I love the font--it's a little different from the original cover, but still says 1920's to me. I am even okay with the various characters standing on the cover, and I like the bridge and car in the background. What I cannot get over is all the purple. It just makes the cover look cheesy instead of cool, in my opinion. It does convey a sense of darkness, but I just don't like it.
What do you all think?
